Choosing a Trampoline for a Windy or Exposed Cork Garden

Two choices matter most: whether the trampoline sits in the ground or on legs, and whether it has a safety net.

If your garden is open to the wind, think about it before you choose a model. This page keeps to what we can stand over. For anything specific to your garden, book a free garden consultation or ring the Cork line on 021 601 7112.

In the Ground or on Legs

A trampoline set into the ground catches far less wind than one standing on legs. BERG makes two types:

    • InGround is set into the lawn with a low raised edge. From €339.
    • FlatGround sits completely level with the lawn. From €699.

Both need groundwork by an installer, landscaper or builder; we deliver but do not install. The InGround guide lists every size and price and the questions to ask an installer.

    The Safety Net

A safety net catches wind whether the trampoline is in the ground or not. Above-ground BERG trampolines are all sold with a net. InGround and FlatGround models can be bought without one; BERG marks these "SPORTS" in the name.

Whether to have a net is your decision as a family. We are happy to talk it through in the consultation.

If You Choose an Above-Ground Trampoline

Plenty of gardens suit a trampoline on legs. Follow BERG's manual for your model on securing it and on storing it or its parts. If you can, pick the more sheltered part of the garden, keeping the free space BERG's manual asks for. The buying guide covers the above-ground ranges.

    Wet and Windy Days

    • Do not use a trampoline when it is wet or in high wind.
    • Follow BERG's manual on securing and storing the trampoline.
    • Afterwards, check the net, mat, springs and padding before anyone jumps, and clear leaves and debris.
    • Replace worn or damaged parts with genuine BERG parts. We keep them in stock.

    Common Questions

Which trampoline is best for a windy garden?

One that is set into the ground. An InGround or FlatGround trampoline catches far less wind than a trampoline on legs. A safety net catches wind wherever the trampoline sits, and InGround and FlatGround models can be bought without one.

Can I leave the safety net off?

Above-ground BERG trampolines are all sold with a safety net. InGround and FlatGround models can be bought without one: InGround without a net starts from €339 and FlatGround from €699.

Can children use the trampoline in wind or rain?

No. Do not use a trampoline when it is wet or in high wind. Wait until the mat is dry and the wind has dropped.

What should I do with the trampoline before bad weather?

Follow BERG's manual for your model on securing and storing it. If a part is worn or damaged afterwards, replace it with a genuine BERG part before the trampoline is used again; we keep them in stock.
